Really nice pitch bends, they definitely make the track stand out. The guitar is eerie, i think it could have used more reverb and a bit of delay towards the end for a smoother transition. You've got some great video game-y tracks, keep it up!

MyrtleMist responds:

Thank you for the feedback! Initially I wanted to make the latter transition smoother but I feel like it being a bit abrupt added some unease to it, like slowly calming down but then being snapped back into the paranoia.

This track could use a little bit more mixing, like the drums could stand out more. The strings in the beginning are gorgeous, really well done. Good luck with the challenge, keep it up:p

GuyFD responds:

Thx, I probably could have spent more time but I was in kind of a rush so I'll do something about it later. :)

good luck with the challenge! this is great techno stuff:3

Love the funk! I can totally hear some vocoded lyrics on top of this, good luck with the challenge!

you've got some engaging melodic stuff going on, good luck with the challenge! :)

Charlmot responds:

Thanks!

This would fit perfectly as background music for a visual novel or that sort of thing, really fun tune, althought the ending part didn't really match the energy of the whole track

DonDonPan responds:

yeah, that definitely could be improved on, I had no idea for what I would want this song to be, If I ever end up doing a collection of sorts of the jamuary songs I'll fix that

Definitely gets jazzier the more it goes on, the guitar is great and fits in perfectly! your style is great, good luck with jamuary:)

Arponax responds:

Thanks, i like to just improvise stuff on it, im glad it fits atleast a bit :D

jamuary babyy les gooooo

You have some interesting ideas hidden behind a rough sound selection and mix. The intro chords are nice but you could make them more interesting with some light strumming (making each note come in gradually, mimicking how a person would play a piano, instead of a blocky chord). The first synth/pad that comes in after the chords has a bit too much reverb, washing away everything else. The other synth that comes in and plays rhythmically is also a bit unexpected as there's no transition into it. The buildup however I think you nailed, it's really nice. I would have liked to see this song go into a direction where after the buildup you get to your chill part and it transitions into a chill drop, with like a gritty saw wave bass maybe, just some ideas.

My advice is to fiddle around more with mixing plugins (Eq's, compression, saturation, the whole lot). Keep up the good work though, and good luck with jamuary! :)

hey, I remember you lol. You reviewed one of my tracks on ur youtube channel 2 years ago i think. Good luck with jamuary!:D

As for the track, I really didn't expect those drums! I think the drop section fits really well with the mystery theme, its eerie and I love that subtle bass that descends. The mallet that comes after also has this click to it, it's percussive and makes the song feel calmer without actually lifting that intrigue and the uncanniness.

Great stuff!
